Swedish Massage
At most spas,
Swedish massage is the most popular treatment, and it’s for good reason. Perfect for first-time spa-goers, Swedish massage will help to release neck knots and soothe nerves. Traditional Swedish
massage, or “classical massage,” consists mainly of long strokes over oiled skin and kneading of the outer layers of muscle tissue to reduce stress and soothe sore joints and muscles. Studies have
shown Swedish massage relaxes the nervous system, aids circulation, and helps with detoxification.
Deep Tissue
Deep tissue massage goes to a deeper layer of muscles that are often chronically tight. Very beneficial for chronic pain, deep tissue can encompass the full body or
focus specifically on those areas most in need of relief. Be warned, if it’s your first massage or you don’t get much exercise, steer clear of deep tissue — you could end up very sore the next day. A
deep tissue massage can help heal injuries and release knots caused by stress. Deep tissue massage requires a solid understanding of anatomy, but top therapists don’t just have technical skill:
They’re highly sensitive and aware of reactions taking place in the body during the work and know when to back off.
Hot Stone
Though it seems like a new trend, stone massage has been around for thousands of years. Hot stone massage uses heated stones on your
body (like Mother Nature’s heating pad!) in conjunction with Swedish or Deep Tissue massage to promote relaxation and lasting peacefulness. Bring relief to tense muscles, sore joints, stressed
emotions and a weary soul.
It’s a blissful, rejuvenating experience that’s not to be missed!
Massage Cupping
Massage Cupping is an adaption of ancient technique and Traditional Chinese Medicine. Glass or plastic cups along with vacuum pump
create a negative pressure on the skin's surface. Cups are then moved using various techniques while gently pulling up. Bony land marks such as spine and scapula which are often avoided (due to
compression because typical massage would cause pain), can be worked on.
The cups can also be parked or left on a particular area for short duration to facilitate joint mobilization or soft tissue release. Suction reaches deep into soft tissue, attachments and organs.
Toxins, inflammation, blood and lymph are then pulled to the skins surface.
Health and healing are promoted by loosening soft connective tissue, therefore a visible improvements are seen in scars and adhesions. The outcome is increased circulation, lymph flow and the
sensation is truly indescribable.
